I spent the early years of my artistic career studying at Dartmouth where I was able to explore the intersection of craft and the natural world of New England around me. While exploring the White Mountains of New Hampshire on the weekends, racing the morning sun up the rocky coastline of Maine, and sailing the crystal clear lakes of Vermont in between classes, I found that my muse was the harmony of nature and it's interactions with the landscapes it resides in. This informed my studies and lead me to pursue a degree in the arts. After graduating with a BA in Studio Art and extended studies in Art History and Human Centered Design from the Thayer School of Engineering, I began working under master craftsman in Vermont building bespoke solid wood furniture. It was here that I was given the opportunity to witness the nuances and importance of environmentally conscious design. A passion that informs my work and practices today.
Eventually I pivoted and returned home to work for many years as a creative director for a small luxury furniture company in New York City.  Spending my days a the New York Design Center, I was constantly inspired and curious about what's new to come. I was driven to start creating designs of my own using all the skills I had picked up along the way. Before long I took the leap and founded Studio Ramage, my own furniture and design studio.
