Flight

This sculpture attempts to capture the momentary beauty of lift and descent working together in harmony. This piece is free of many supports so it is reactionary to touch. Touching one rock can send the rest into a cascade of undulation. This allowance of ever-changing form becomes important in the series because it physically emulated temporality and impermanence. The piece is hung so the rocks are at eye level and become apart of the visual field. The placement to the window helps to emphasize the connection to nature and the sculpture’s ability to take off into it.
